Native ground fern that has wonderful soft light green foliage, medium height. A common small ground fern that grows in damp shady areas of the forest throughout New Zealand. Lovely green narrow ladder-like fronds the lie almost horizontal in a 'star' formation. It has attractive sterile fronds that are 20 - 85 cm long have nearly-round, dull green leaflets. Usually forms a small trunk up to 25 cm tall. The fertile fronds stand erect from the centre of the rosette and are dark brown and spikey.
This fern is easy to grow in a moist shady spot. Makes an attractive ground cover.
