A small native ground fern that grows in damp shady areas of the forest throughout New Zealand. Lovely green narrow ladder-like fronds the lie almost horizontal in a 'star' formation. It has attractive steril fronds that are 20 - 85 cm long have nearly-round, dull green leaflets. Usually forms a small trunk up to 50 cm tall. The fertile fronds stand erect from the centre of the rosette and are dark brown and spiky.
This fern is easy to grow in a moist shady spot. Makes an attractive ground cover.
Grown in 1.25 litre pots. Foliage is currently 20-25cm high.
